St. Louis Park is inviting residents to a two-hour open house on the city's overhaul of the Highway 7 and Louisiana Avenue intersection.

The open house will be held June 27 and include displays to illustrate the construction schedule and traffic impacts. Representatives from the City of St. Louis Park, MnDOT, C.S. McCrossan and the project manager from Short Elliott Hendrickson, Inc. will field residents' questions.

The open house will run from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the St. Louis Park municipal service center, 7305 Oxford Street.

The project includes the construction of a grade-separated interchange at the Highway 7/Louisiana Avenue intersection to improve access, safety and operations for vehicles, pedestrians and bicyclists. The overhaul consists of a tight diamond interchange configuration, with roundabouts along Louisiana Avenue for traffic control at the Lake Street and Walker Street intersections.

The new interchange, which was designed in conjunction with consultant Short Eliot Hendrickson Inc. (SEH) includes a Highway 7 bridge over Louisiana Avenue. In addition, the project will reconfigure West Lake and Walker streets, add pedestrian and bicycle upgrades and install artistic lighting and architectural features into the space.

The project, which began June 17, is expected to be completed by winter 2014.
