SLP Native Exploring Run for Secretary of State

Jeremy Kalin is now president and owner of Eutectics Consulting, a clean energy finance and consulting firm.

A St. Louis Park native and former Chisago County state representative is investigating a run for Minnesota secretary of state.

DFLer Jeremy Kalin announced Tuesday afternoon on Twitter that he is exploring a campaign to replace outgoing Secretary of State Mark Ritchie, who decided not to seek re-election.

“Sec. Ritchie leaves big shoes to fill; I am humbled and excited to explore a campaign to serve as MN's next Sec. of State,” Kalin posted on Twitter.

Kalin was born in St. Louis Park in 1975, according to the Minnesota Legislative Reference Library. However, he grew up in Sioux City, IA, and graduated from South High School in Minneapolis.

He was a designer and draftsman and taught high school and college classes for 10 years.

Kalin ran an unsuccessful campaign for state representative in 2004. In 2006, he was elected to represent District 17B, which covers portions of Chisago County. He was re-elected for the position in 2008.

Kalin is now president and owner of Eutectics Consulting, a clean energy finance and consulting firm.
