Send Light Rail Underground, Says Mpls Group

The train would ruin the beauty of a bike path, group claims.

A Minneapolis preservation group is calling for the Southwest Light Rail to be buried below ground—or at least the part that runs through their backyards.

According to KSTP, the Kenilworth Preservation Group will ruin the bike path running between Cedar Lake and Lake of the Isles, which links the LRT and Cedar Lake bike trails.

In a statement to KSTP, the Met Council was cool on the expensive prospect of burying any portion of the train line, and said that only one of the many designs under consideration would involve shifting the bicycle trail in question.
