New Minnesota Laws Effective July 1 Include Big Cig Tax, All-Day Kindergarten

You'll pay an extra $1.50 more starting today for tobacco to help pay for a new Vikings stadium, and parents will have new options for all-day kindergarten.

Dozens of new laws passed by the Minnesota State Legislature kick in today.

Among them include a $1 cigarette tax hike to pay for the new Vikings stadium, more than $130 million for all-day kindergarten and about a $16 million increase in the fight against aquatic invasive species.
