A man who was a coach, teacher, City Councilman and mayor in St. Louis Park died earlier this month in Vero Beach, FL.

Lyle Hanks, 82, died Nov. 2 of fibrosis of the lungs, according to an obituary in the Star Tribune.

Hanks lived in Florida with his wife, Laura, during the winter, the Star Tribune reported. He was a member of the City Council for 11 years.

He served as mayor from 1982 to 1995, the longest any SLP mayor has been in office consecutively.

In March when Patch ran the  one reader suggested in the comments that Hanks be included.

“He wanted to see his grandson get married in California, he wanted to see his granddaughter get married in Sartell and he wanted to attend his 60th college reunion at Hamline," his wife told the Star Tribune, and then confirmed that he was able to do all of them before he died.

Hanks was also a principal at St Louis Park high school and I remember him coming to your class, pulling you out into the hall and saying "where were you during X hour yesterday." He was a big part of high school and is remembered for all he did for us young kids.
