Ellipse Apartment Getting a Twin

Construction of "e2" is expected to start in the fall.

The 1-year-old apartment complex will be getting some company on the eastern edge of St. Louis Park.

On Monday, City Council granted approval for the construction of Ellipse II on Excelsior, a building which will be dubbed "e2" for short.

Robb Bader, who is vice president of Bader Development, which owns the Ellipse, said he hopes to start construction of Ellipse II this fall and have the new apartment open 11 months later.

Ellipse II will have 58 units throughout five floors, matching the height of the existing complex. The new building will go up at 3924 Excelsior Blvd., which is currently a parking area, and will share driveway access with the Ellipse.

Unlike the existing Ellipse building, the new complex will not have any retail space on the bottom floor.
