Campaign Consultant Sues Fields

Erika Roland accused the Republican challenger of not paying her for her fundraising services.

A fundraising consultant has sued Chris Fields, claiming the Republican challenger for the 5th District seat owes her money, the Associated Press reports.

Erika Roland is asking Hennepin County District Court to award her $23,800 total—comprising monthly contract fees, bonuses and an early termination penalty. She also wants Fields to pay her attorney’s fees.

Roland says when she demanded her $3,700 July payment, Fields gave her a check with different amounts on different parts of the check, according to the Associated Press report. That kept her from cashing the check. She also says she never received her bonuses.

Fields’ campaign did not respond to the allegations.

Ellison, Fields Debate Whether GOP is ‘Bigoted’

Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) told Mother Jones that a part of the Republican Party platform alluding that the United States is threatened by Islamic Shariah law “is an expression of bigotry,” adding later:

And this is the thing: I don't mind debating taxes and spending; we probably should. But they're the party that is basically a bigoted party and they have now officially declared themselves against a whole segment of the American population, because if we said we were going to put a plank opposing Jewish law, or Catholic canon, it would be an outrage. This is also an outrage. But you know, it'll pass.

Fields fired back in a fundraising letter to supporters:

In an interview yesterday with the liberal blog Mother Jones, Keith Ellison expressed his hatred for the Republican Party when he blasted the GOP as “a bigoted party”. … As always, Ellison has been trying to rid politics of any and all opposing thought.  Opposed to his, that is.

Is this the type of rhetoric and behavior you want from a sitting Congressman?  I certainly don’t!

Jerusalem and the Democratic platform

Ellison jumped into a debate over the Democratic platform that split the party. At a meeting of the American Muslim Democratic Caucus in Charlotte, he shared his thoughts on a part of the Democratic platform that references Jerusalem as being the capital of Israel.

That's an unfortunate circumstance. This is a serious conflict which requires real focus and the world needs a solution to it. It should not be reduced to whose platform is more pro-Israel. It's a game that we're playing. But we're playing a game with people's lives.

I don't think that Ellison has the interest of Israel close to his heart. I agree that there must be a Palestinian state in some form, but I find incredibly wrong for the US to force Israel to negotiate with the Palestinian Authority, which is partly made of Hamas, a terrorist group that wants to destroy Israel and rid the Middle East of Jews. His statement that there is a competition between who's more "pro-Israel" is suggesting that our many members of Congress and our current and past Presidents are supporting Israel based on its being politically popular rather than morally just. People need to realize that this world is not friendly to Jews, and that the US is one the few true allies to this Jewish State that is fighting for the protection of Jews. Let's not forget the Holocaust, the Spanish Inquisition, and now the way many Muslims in the Middle East intend for Jews. Jews need a nation state and have every right to self-defense.

It's sad that Candidate Fields doesn't have the integrity- or the funds - to pay people that performed work for his campaign.

Best not to judge a situation that is in the court system...We do Not know the whole story nor are we intitled to until the court decides the case on it's merits..
