Woman Wields Butter Knife During Assault on St. Louis Park Man

A St. Paul woman reportedly became increasingly upset when her former high school friend wanted to get some sleep rather than drive her home.

A 26-year-old St. Louis Park man told police he had invited an old high school friend back to his apartment to watch some movies when she suddenly became violent and threatening him with a butter knife.

Officers were dispatched to the 2400 block of Highway 100 on a report of a 23- to 25-year-old black female known simply as "Stefanee." The caller reported the woman came over to his apartment and watched movies with him until approximately 4 a.m. on April 8, when they decided to go to sleep. He told officers Stefanee demanded a ride back to her St. Paul home a short time later, then "became very angry" when she was unable to reach anyone by phone to come pick her up.

The St. Louis Park man said he repeatedly offered to drive her home after he got some sleep, but Stefanee became increasingly loud and upset. When she was told to leave the apartment, she reportedly refused to go.

The man told polio he noticed an Xbox 360 controller fall from Stefanee's purse, then told her she "wasn't going to steal from him." When he opened his apartment door and tried guiding her out of the apartment, Stefanee reportedly produced a butter knife and told the man to not touch her.

Police report the man did not feel threatened by the butter knife—which he suspected came from his own silverware drawer—and noted Stefanee never lunged at him with the weapon. After he called 9-1-1 to report the incident, the man said Stefanee exited his apartment building and left the area on foot. Police attempted to locate her in the surrounding area, but were unable to find Stefanee.

The man sustained a small scratch on the back of his hand during the incident, which he told police he believed happened when he was holding the door open for Stefanee. He also said it could have stemmed from her scratching him with her fingernails.

Officers report the caller did not appear to be intoxicated at the time, but noted he was unable to provide his address when he called 9-1-1. Dispatchers reportedly had to tell him to go outside of the building to get the address of the apartment building and he had to physically look at his door in the hallway area to discern his unit number.

The man did not wish to pursue any criminal charges against Stefanee for the assault and said he would only consider it if she returned to retaliate in some way.
