Story of the Year No. 2: Shootings in SLP

Editor's Note: With 2011 winding down, we're using this last week of the year to look back at the five stories that shaped St. Louis Park over the past 12 months and had people talking. Today, we look at story No. 2—two October shootings. Look for story No. 1 tomorrow.

October was a scary month in St. Louis Park, as one person was shot and killed and another shot during an attempted burglary.

The first incident occurred on Oct. 3, when a 55-year-old man outside of a St. Louis Park office building, then later killed himself in Minneapolis. The incident occurred a day before what would have been the couple's .

It was the first reported homicide in St. Louis Park since November 2010, when a man at the off Highway 7.

On Oct. 27, another shooting occurred, this time when a local man apparently .

The homeowner was injured, but not fatally, and the suspect got away. Police eventually released a full suspect description, as well as a , but no arrests have been made in the case.
