UPDATED: SLP Standoff Resolved

Standoff lasted almost 5 hours.

UPDATE 10 a.m. Dec. 16: St. Louis Park police have resolved a standoff at the 3700 block of Kipling Avenue, according to city spokesperson Jamie Zwilling.

Around 5 a.m., a man living in a duplex on that block made what Zwilling called "possible threats against himself and others." In response, police blocked off the area and evacuated residents from the other side of the duplex, plus the two houses on either side of the duplex.

Police believed the man had access to a firearm, but so far one has not been recovered.

The evacuees were brought to Wolfe Park Pavilion while the situation was resolved.

For some time, police had been unable to contact the man; as late as 8:50 a.m., Zwilling told Patch that officers weren't able to communicate with him.

Around 9:30 a.m., the man emerged from the duplex "without incident" and surrendered to police. As there wasn't a specific crime committed, Zwilling said the man was taken in for questioning, but was not arrested.

A total of 25 St. Louis Park and Edina police officers, plus Hennepin County medical personnel, responded to the standoff.

According to city spokesperson Jamie Zwilling, the man is a resident of the 3700 block of Kipling Avenue.

Was this really on Nov. 16th? I'm confused.

Yes, it was on the 16th.

Oh, I retract that! It was on Dec. 16. It was not on Nov. 16.
