SLP PD Prepared for Increased Theater Security in Wake of Colorado Shooting

Twelve people were killed during a midnight showing of "The Dark Knight Rises."

The St. Louis Park Police Department is prepared to provide increased patrols at local movie theaters following an overnight shooting at a Colorado showing of "The Dark Knight Rises" in which 12 were killed and at least 50 injured.

Police spokesman Jamie Zwilling issued the following statement Friday morning:

It is our standard procedure that whenever there is a significant crime that occurs that increases everyone’s sensitivities, like the tragedy in Colorado this morning, our district patrol officers do provide increased patrols as necessary.

According to the Associated Press, a gunman threw tear gas into a midnight showing of the new film "The Dark Knight Rises" in Aurora, Colorado, before opening fire on the crowd.
