Editor's Note: The following incidents occurred between May 2 and May 3, and were included in the most recent weekly report, sent out on May 9. Specific details come from individual incident reports maintained by the department.
May 2 - Staff at called police after a woman, 29, came in and said she had been robbed nearby. The woman told police she was walking home through the when a man approached her in a parking lot at 1690 West End Blvd. She said the man got very close to her, causing her to fall over backwards. She said he then said, "Give me what you got." The woman gave him $40 in cash and he fled the area. The woman described the suspect as a white male, in his early 30s, of average build and standing about 5 feet 7 inches tall.
May 3 - A 32-year-old man who was watching a home for a friend on a honeymoon reported a burglary to police. The residence, in the 2800 block of Rhode Island Avenue, had a smashed back door window, which appeared to be the point of entry. A bedroom was ransacked, and the homeowner later reported that two laptops were stolen. No suspects have been identified.
May 3 - A 35-year-old man reported that several items had been stolen from his garage in the 6300 block of 35th Street. The man said someone entered his wife's car, which was parked on the street, and removed the garage door opener. The unknown suspect then entered the garage and stole two girls' bikes, as well as a GPS unit from the man's truck.
May 3 - Police were called after a 1990 Jeep Cherokee was reported stolen from a parking lot in the 4400 block of Minnetonka Boulevard. The vehicle was later recovered in North Minneapolis with a punched ignition. No suspects have been identified.
May 3 - A worker reported that an unknown suspect stole more than $400 worth of copper from a construction site at 3601 Park Center Blvd. Police will be providing increased patrol in the area.
