St. Louis Park Man Charged with Illegally Possessing Oxycodone

Police say Brandon Lee Olson had 10 Oxycodone pills when he was arrested earlier this month.

A St. Louis Park man has been charged with illegally possessing Oxycodone and marijuana.

Brandon Lee Olson, 26, is charged with felony fifth-degree drug possession, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.

According to the criminal complaint, compiled by Minneapolis Police Sgt. Matthew St. George, an officer spotted a car with an expired registration parked on Hennepin Avenue South on April 6, with two people inside.

The officer approached the car and smelled the odor of marijuana from inside the car, according to the complaint. When he searched the car, he found a small amount of marijuana and 10 pills that were subsequently identified as Oxycodone.

Olson told the officer that he was having back pain and was using Oxycodone to treat it, the complaint says. He said he didn’t have a prescription for the pills and that he had bought them from a friend, according to the complaint.

Olson’s criminal history includes a 2005 conviction for drug conviction in Hennepin County.

Olson is free on a $7,500 bond. An omnibus hearing in his case is scheduled May 24 in Hennepin County District Court.
