On May 31 at 5 a.m., a 26-year-old St. Louis Park man driving in Eden Prairie was stopped and arrested on six misdemeanor charges and one gross misdemeanor charge.

Abdinasir Abdihakim Jama was pulled over near SuperAmerica when an officer on patrol discovered the car was registered to someone with only an instructional permit.
Jama admitted he only had a permit and couldn't provide proof of insurance. He was initially issued a citation because of multiple driving after withdrawal violations. The car was impounded because he didn't have someone who could pick up the car. Jama allegedly left in a hurry without taking his wallet.

During a search, officers found a loaded 9mm semi-automatic pistol in the glove box. The hammer was in a cocked position and the safety wasn't activated.

Jama was located a short distance away and officers smelled alcohol and noticed bloodshot eyes. He blew a .103 and was placed under arrest.

Charges against Jama include carrying a pistol without a permit in a public place, carrying a pistol while under the influence, carrying a pistol while under the influence of alcohol less than .10 but more than .04, illegally transporting a firearm in a motor vehicle in a prohibited area, no proof of insurance, careless driving and instruction permit violation.
