SLP Man Arrested for Cocaine Possession

Police say Ronald Plotsker had .07 grams of cocaine in his pocket when he was arrested for drunken driving.

A St. Louis Park man has been charged with cocaine possession after police stopped him for going almost twice the speed limit in a residential area in Robbinsdale.

Ronald Plotsker, 61, is charged with fifth-degree drug possession, a felony with a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. He is also charged with two misdemeanor counts of fourth-degree DWI, each of which has a maximum penalty of 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.

According to the criminal complaint, signed by Robbinsdale Police Officer Casey Landherr, officers were on patrol near France Avenue North and 46th Avenue on July 8 when they spotted a car going 56 mph in a 30 mph zone.

Police followed the vehicle onto southbound Highway 100 and clocked it at 75 mph in a 60 mph zone. They stopped the car and identified the driver as Plotsker, whom they described as having bloodshot, glassy eyes, with a strong odor of alcohol on his breath.

Officers administered a preliminary breath test, and Plotsker’s blood-alcohol content registered at .13.

He was arrested for driving while intoxicated. During a search, police found .07 grams of cocaine in Plotsker’s pocket, according to the complaint.

Plotsker is free on a $12,000 bond. An omnibus hearing in his case is scheduled for Aug. 22 in Hennepin County District Court.
