SLP Firefighters, Police Raise Money for Burn Victims

The two departments held a charity softball game earlier this month.

The St. Louis Park Fire Department and SLP Police Department turned a friendly rivalry into some much needed money for three local charities.

Local firefighters and police officers raised more than $400 for the Hennepin County Medical Center Burn Center, the St.Louis Park Community Foundation and the children’s reading initiative of the Nicollet Foundation during a Sept. 9 charity softball game.

Money was donated to HCMC on Friday (see photo above).

Thanks to Sean McKenna, Luke Ellanson and many others for organizing this every year. It is such great fun and all money goes to good causes. Keep up the good work. Shirley and Ken

Much credit should also go to the Park Tavern. They are the regular season sponsor for both of these softball teams and were overly generous with prizes for this special cause. Their manager, MaryAnn Miller is great to work with for event planning and ideas.
