Blotter: Change Machine, $3,000 in Quarters Stolen From Laundromat

An unknown suspect reportedly ripped the machine from the wall.

Editor's Note: The following incidents occurred between June 20 and June 28, and were included in the  most recent weekly report, sent out on July 12. Specific details come from individual incident reports maintained by the department.

June 20: Police were called to on a report of a stolen change machine. Officers found a large hole in the wall, and it appeared as if a fire extinguisher was used to smash the machine loose. The machine itself is valued at $3,000, and it also contained $3,000 in quarters and $150 in cash. The damage to the wall was estimated at $2,500. No suspects have been identified.

June 21: A laptop was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the parking lot. It is unclear how entry was gained into the car. No suspects have been identified.

June 23: A burglary was reported at an apartment in the 4300 block of Minnetonka Boulevard. An unknown suspect reportedly cut through a window screen, then stole a TV, a laptop and an iPad.

June 24: A man, 25, reported a laptop stolen from his home in the 5000 block of 40th Street West after he and a friend invited some women over following a night out at a Minneapolis bar. The man said he thought a woman he knew as "Tasha" stole the laptop. He didn't know her last name. Police were able to call "Tasha," and she denied taking the laptop. No other suspects were identified.

June 25: Police were called to the construction site at 3601 Park Center Blvd. on a report of copper theft. The copper was stolen from floors six through 10, and likely dropped to the ground below where a vehicle was waiting. No suspects have been identified.

June 28: Police were called to on a burglary report. The front door deadbolt had been forced open, and an unknown suspect stole five blood pressure monitors, valued at $250 total.
