UPDATED Snow Causes Crashes in St. Louis Park

MnDOT reporting spin-outs, crashes.

This weekend's snow storm may not be causing many backups on West Metro highways, but it has caused several crashes.

According to information from MnDOT, Interstate 394 and Highways 100, 169, and 62 had at least 3 crashes or spin-outs occur in the last hour.

So far, according to Lt. Eric Roeske of the Minnesota State Patrol, the storm has caused 373 spinouts on Twin Cities roads and 301 accidents. 32 people have been injured.

With snow totals expected to top 9 to 15 inches, city officials in St. Louis Park have declared an on-street parking ban until streets have been fully plowed, curb to curb.

Update 10:20 a.m. 12/10/12: A review of the St. Louis Park Police and Fire Department calls for service on Dec. 9 shows that four accidents, four hit-and-runs resulting in property damage, one road hazard, and two downed powerlines were reported during Sunday's storm. On Dec. 8, police responded to reports of six crashes and three hit-and-runs.

Monday morning, the State Patrol's Roske tweeted that, all told, 654 crashes and 1,299 spinouts or vehicles running off the road were reported in the Twin Cities since 9:30 p.m. on Friday.  One person was killed and 67 were injured in these incidents.
