SLP Man Fired for Talk About Using an AK-47 to ‘Pop Off’ Methodist Hospital Co-Workers

The Hennepin County Attorney's Office declined to press charges.

A Methodist Hospital employee was fired on Dec. 19 after making comments to co-workers about bringing an AK-47 into the office to “pop” people off.

The St. Louis Park man, upset about the security of his job, had vented to co-workers earlier in the month.

The co-workers reflected on the man’s “odd personality,” gun ownership and frequent rudeness to colleagues and decided to report the man’s comment to the hospital’s security department.

The man did not resist arrest by St. Louis Park police.

“This is all a big misunderstanding,” he said. “I didn’t mean anything I said.”

The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office declined to press charges.
