Shopper Becomes Belligerent Over Stolen Purse

A women reported that someone took her $1,500 Louis Vuitton bag and $1,500 in cash when she was in the shoe department of Burlington Coat Factory in St. Louis Park.

A patron at the Burlington Coat Factory on Nov. 24 had what was probably one of her least enjoyable shopping experiences this holiday season when a thief relieved her of her purse.

The 23-year old St. Louis Park resident told St. Louis Park police officers that she set her purse down in the "shoes" section of the store for 5 to 7 minutes. When she returned to its location, the $1,500 Louis Vuitton bag had disappeared, along with $1,500 in cash inside it.

According to a report filed by SLPD officers, store security officials said their security cameras captured a young woman leaving the store with the purse.

Normally, copies of footage like this are turned over to police for their investigation. However, the purse's owner also wanted to see it. When store employees told her she would not be able to view it at that time, she became "belligerent" in the words of the responding officers.

Staff escorted the woman off store property and asked her not to return for the rest of the day.
