Send a 'Thank You' Note to SLP's First Responders

To commemorate Sept. 11, we will be presenting "thank you" banners to the local police and fire departments.

On Sept. 11, 2001, more than 400 brave emergency workers lost their lives trying to save people in the aftermath of the World Trade Center attacks.

Because first responders across the country share a tight bond, the deaths in New York City resonated in police and fire departments everywhere.

"I always get choked up on this day," St. Louis Park Fire Chief Luke Stemmer said during a . "I ask that all of you, along with the St. Louis Park firefighters, remember the courage shown that day."

This year, let's show our local first responders how much we appreciate their courage, which they demonstrate by putting themselves in harm's way every day, just so we can live safely.

In the comments section below, we ask that you write a brief "thank you" to St. Louis Park police officers and firefighters. Your words will then be turned into banners that will be presented to both departments on Sept. 11, 2012.
