Rally Held After SLP Man Beaten in St. Cloud

The Monday assault was an apparent hate crime.

More than 100 people rallied in downtown St. Cloud Wednesday after a St. Louis Park man was beaten early Monday, reportedly because he is gay, according to news reports.

The St. Cloud Times has video of the rally, and reports that while the rally was held in response to Monday’s beating, it was about more than just one incident.

“It’s not just about that one boy,” organizer Pat McDonald Ditlevson told the newspaper. “It’s just not OK. It’s a hate crime.”
