Ponytailed Harley Rider Evades St. Louis Park Police

The man, around 50 years old, stopped his motorcycle before speeding off on Highway 394.

A middle-aged man lurchingly riding a shiny black Harley Davidson without a license plate managed to flee from a St. Louis Park police officer in the early hours of July 18.

The motorcyclist, described as around 50 years old, about 5-foot-11-inches, with a gray ponytail and matching t-shirt, was spotted by police driving about 20 miles per hour below the speed limit on northbound Highway 100, near Cedar Lake Road, around 1:10 a.m. on July 18.

Police watched as the motorcycle swerved without signaling toward the eastbound Highway 394 exit, nearly crashing into the concrete divider.

Emergency lights flashing in his rearview mirror, the driver came to a slow stop on 394, almost falling off his motorcycle before turning and facing the police officer.

When the officer, waiting by the squad car door, ordered the motorcyclist to shut his engine, he rebelled.

He revved the engine, kicking down the shifter but missing the gear so that the motorcycle failed to accelerate.

He then kicked down the shifter a second time, causing the motorcycle to lunge forward, nearly throwing him clear before he recovered his balance and disappeared at “a high rate of speed,” according to the police report.

The state patrol and the Golden Valley police were notified of the fleeing motorcyclist, but he was not found.
