‘Officers’ Try to Swindle SLP Woman Out of $4,261 in ‘Back Taxes’

The men told the St. Louis Park woman that her husband didn't file a "Form No. 61" with his 2001 tax return and that she should bring the money to Hennepin County.

Two men claiming to be “officers” tried to swindle a St. Louis Park woman out of $4,261 by saying she owed back taxes.

The woman received a phone call saying that her husband did not hand in Form No. 61 when filing his 2001 taxes, the woman told police on Sept. 23.

They told the woman to bring the money to Hennepin County immediately—though they did not state where to go—or else they would “come after your husband tonight,” according to a police report.
