Man Arrested After Deputies Find Pot, Cocaine, Ecstasy in SLP Home

A St. Louis Park man is facing three felony drug charges after police say they found marijuana, cocaine and ecstasy when they raided his home last week.

Luan Tu Nguyen, 39, is charged with second-degree cocaine possession, which carries a maximum penalty of 40 years in prison and a $500,000 fine; fourth-degree possession of ecstasy, which has a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison and a $100,000 fine; and fifth-degree marijuana possession, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.

According to the criminal complaint, signed by Hennepin County Sheriff’s Deputy Todd Hinz, officers executed a search warrant at Nguyen’s home in the 2900 block of Blackstone Avenue on May 31 after intercepting a package addressed to Nguyen containing 5.5 pounds of marijuana.

During their search of Nguyen’s home, officers found 8.39 pounds of marijuana, 12.44 grams of cocaine and 93 ecstasy pills, the complaint says.

The search also turned up a number of items of drug paraphernalia, multiple cell phones and $3,540 in cash, according to the complaint.

Nguyen’s criminal record includes a felony drug conviction from 2004.

Nguyen is free on a $60,000 bond. An omnibus hearing in his case is scheduled for July 12 in Hennepin County District Court.
