Crime Alert Issued for Texa Tonka Neighborhood

There have been several attempted burglaries in the area over the past few weeks.

A crime alert was issued earlier this week for the Texa Tonka Neighborhood after several attempted burglaries in the area over the past few weeks.

St. Louis Park police report that screens were removed from windows in all of the cases. No suspects have been identified.

Information about the recent attempted burglaries

•    Attempted burglaries are occurring at various times throughout the day and on different days of the week.
•    Suspects are removing the window screen and attempting to enter through an open or unsecured window.

In order to reduce the chances that you will become a target of a burglary, please exercise the following important precautions:

Reevaluate the security of your home

•    Do not leave doors or windows unsecured or unattended. Lock doors and windows.
•    Do not leave valuables unsecured or visible through a window.
•    Update your doors and locks with deadbolt locks. Be sure door hinges are exposed from the inside only.
•    If leaving town, please notify your neighbors so they can watch over your home.
•    Keep your outside lights on at night. Keep shrubs near windows and doors trimmed.
• The police department will conduct a premise survey of your property. To arrange for a survey, please contact the St. Louis Park Community Outreach Officer at 952-924-2661.

Please report all suspicious activity in your neighborhood

•    Call 911 or 952-924-2618 (non-emergency.) Remember to report suspicious activity immediately to the police department.
•    Talk with your neighbors regarding all suspicious activity.
