Burlington Coat Factory Security Guard Assaulted During Shoplifting

The security guard was elbowed in the chest while attempting to detain a shoplifter.

A security guard at the Burlington Coat Factory on Highway 100 was elbowed in the chest on Jan. 4 while trying to detain a Minneapolis man from leaving the store with unpaid for merchandise.

The 28-year-old Minneapolis man was accompanied by two women as he tried to steal clothing from store around 9:20 p.m.

The security guard placed the man under citizen’s arrest, but not before receiving an elbow to the sternum, according to the police report. The security guard held the man until police arrived.

The Minneapolis man was issued a citation for fifth-degree assault and trespassing.

Issued a "citation" for a physical assault? And we wonder why these animals run rampant in the Twin Cities. Our criminal "justice" system is abhorrent at holding criminals accountable.

There was probably not enough physical evidence E.G. bruising or redness. These groups of shoplifters work like packs of trained animals. Each has a job, and the few times they are caught they act as though they are being assaulted by security.

Daniel, not only that... these shoplifting teams are often from the same family. The parents send their kids in to distract the owner, then the parents rip off the store. This used to be just the Gypsies, but it's not always that case anymore.

Oh, Mike B, you are quite the card. I can always count on you to make me laugh.
