Burlington Coat Factory Security Guard Assaulted During Shoplifting

The security guard was elbowed in the chest while attempting to detain a shoplifter.

A security guard at the Burlington Coat Factory on Highway 100 was elbowed in the chest on Jan. 4 while trying to detain a Minneapolis man from leaving the store with unpaid for merchandise.

The 28-year-old Minneapolis man was accompanied by two women as he tried to steal clothing from store around 9:20 p.m.

The security guard placed the man under citizen’s arrest, but not before receiving an elbow to the sternum, according to the police report. The security guard held the man until police arrived.

The Minneapolis man was issued a citation for fifth-degree assault and trespassing.
