Blotter: Thief Nabs $2,000 in Cash

St. Louis Park Police are also looking into several other recent thefts.

Editor's Note: The following incidents occurred between Sept. 1 and Sept. 8, and were included in the most recent weekly report, sent out on Sept. 15. Specific details come from individual incident reports maintained by the department.

Sept. 1 – A 51-year-old woman reported to police that her purse was stolen from her vehicle while parked at . Officers found the vehicle with a window broken out. The purse is valued at $400, and stolen along with it was $2,000 in cash, as well as various credit cards. No suspects have been identified.

Sept. 1 – Police were called to on a report of two drunk men causing a disturbance. Officers arrived and spoke with the men, ages 54 and 62, who said they had paid the cashier for liquor but that he claimed they hadn’t. The cashier, a 61-year-old man, told police that he didn’t remember the men paying. Surveillance footage supported the cashier’s claim. The two men were asked to leave the property.

Sept. 1 – A 19-year-old man reported to police that his car was vandalized while parked outside . Officers discovered two large gouges and several smaller scratches along the body of the vehicle. The $1,500 of damage was likely done with some type of power tool. No suspects have been reported.

Sept. 2 – A 58-year-old man reported that someone had stolen a bike from his garage in the 3000 block of Georgia Avenue. He said the door was closed, but officers found that it had been unlocked. The bike is worth $300. No suspects have been identified.

Sept. 2 – Police were called to the 3500 block of Beltline Boulevard on a report of a Comcast van being broken into. Officers found that a window had been smashed out. Roughly $900 worth of tools and equipment was stolen. No suspects have been identified.

Sept. 3 – Police were called to the intersection of 36th Street West and Lynn Avenue after a 41-year-old man reported a theft from a vehicle. The man told police that his daughter had seen someone enter a vehicle, take a few items and run off. The vehicle’s owner, a 42-year-old man, reported several items missing, including a cell phone, an iPod and $75 cash. The total value of the stolen items is roughly $700. A suspect identification was not provided.

Sept. 4 - A 34-year-old man reported that his motorcycle was stolen from his driveway in the 1400 block of Jersey Avenue. The man said he had both sets of keys with him at the time. No suspects have been ifentified.

Sept. 6 - A 28-year-old man reported that his bike was stolen from an underground garage at his apartment at . The $1,200 bike had been locked in his garage stall, the man said. No suspects have been identified.

Sept. 6 – A 29-year-old man reported that a $1,000 work laptop was stolen from his unlocked car at . Several personal checks and a wireless Internet card were also stolen. No suspects have been identified.

Sept. 8 – Police were called to the on a report of a theft of a $10,000 wedding ring from a 95-year-old woman. The woman’s son-in-law said she suffers from dementia and remembers very little. He said she never takes the ring off, so he suspects a staff member took it from her finger. The home’s director said all staff members have access to the woman’s room, so it would be very hard to narrow down a suspect list.
