Blotter: Storage Shed, Apartment Among Reported St. Louis Park Break-ins

Local police have warned residents that spring weather can bring an increased number of burglaries.

The following incidents occurred between April 3 and April 6, and were included in the most recent weekly report, sent out on April 13. Specific details come from individual incident reports maintained by the department.

April 3 - Police were called to a home in the 3000 block of Edgewood Avenue for what appeared to be an attempted break-in, as a side door had been kicked in. The home had been rented to a 43-year-old woman, but she was evicted several days earlier. Nothing was reported stolen and no suspects have been identified.

April 3 - A 38-year-old male reported that his storage shed at Simply Self Storage (5605 Cedar Lake Rd.) had been broken in to. An unknown suspect reportedly pried the lock off the shed. No items were reported missing.

April 4 - A trailer was reported stolen from The owner, a 55-year-old male, said there wasn’t any good surveillance footage from the spot where the trailer was taken. No suspects have been identified. The trailer is valued at roughly $9,000.

April 5 - A 25-year-old male reported that his apartment in the 2700 block of Louisiana Court had been burglarized. The man said he left for the day around 10 a.m. and returned at 1 p.m. to find the front door pried open. Stolen were a laptop, a printer, a backpack and jeans, and speakers. The total value of the stolen items is roughly $900. An adjacent apartment was also broken into in a similar fashion, but the unit was vacant. No suspects have been identified.

April 6 - A vehicle was reported stolen from a parking lot in the 4100 block of West 31st Street. The 1988 Oldsmobile is valued at $1,000. There were no keys in the vehicle at the time of the theft. No suspects have been identified.
