Blotter: St. Louis Park Police Respond to Several Car Break-ins

Officers also responded to a burglary at a local apartment complex.

The following incidents occurred between March 5 and March 9, and were included in the most recent weekly report, sent out on March 16. Specific details come from individual incident reports maintained by the department.

March 5- Police responded to the 4500 block of 36 ½ Street on a report of a laptop being stolen from a car in a parking lot. There was no damage to the vehicle, and the victim, a 27-year-old woman, said she wasn’t sure if the car was locked or not. No suspects have been identified in the case. The computer is valued at $1,200.

March 7- Police were called to the 1400 block of Idaho Avenue after a computer and a microphone were reportedly stolen from a vehicle. Officers found the front, driver-side window smashed out. The $1,000 laptop is a work computer, and police were able to track its usage. Investigators learned that the computer was used to access the Facebook page of a 26-year-old woman from Brooklyn Center. Police have also identified several other suspects. No arrests have been made and the case remains under investigation.

March 7- Officers responded to the parking lot of , where a man reported that his vehicle had been keyed. Officers noticed an eight-foot long scrape running down the vehicle’s side, consistent with key damage. Surveillance footage was poor and obscured by vehicles in the lot, so no suspects have been identified. The damage to the vehicle is estimated at $1,000.

March 8- A woman reported to police that her apartment in the 2700 block of Louisiana Court was burglarized overnight. The 31-year-old said she believes her hallway door was open and that someone entered, stealing her purse and wallet, which contained $2,000 cash. The woman told police that she’s a heavy sleeper and didn’t hear a thing. No suspects have been identified.

March 8- A vehicle was reported stolen from a parking lot in the 2500 block of Highway 100. The 22-year-old male victim told police that the keys to his 1998 white Ford Econoline van were with him at the time. The vehicle was likely stolen between sometime early in the day on March 6 and the afternoon of March 8. No suspects have been identified.

March 9- A 34-year-old man reported to police that four car tires and rims were stolen from his unlocked garage in the 1300 block of Hampshire Avenue. The stolen items are valued at roughly $500. No suspects have been identified.
