Blotter: Police Respond to Vandalism Cases

In one incident, 12 cars were keyed at a St. Louis Park dealership.

Editor's Note: The following incidents occurred between Sept. 10 and Sept. 14, and were included in the most recent weekly report, sent out on Sept. 21. Specific details come from individual incident reports maintained by the department.

Sept. 10 – A 51-year-old man reported that someone turned on a water spigot outside of his home in the 2000 block of Flag Avenue, causing water to fill his basement. The man said the hose had been coiled up in an egress window well. No damage estimate was given in the report. No suspects have been identified.

Sept. 10 – An employee at reported that an unknown suspect keyed eight cars overnight in the sales lot, and also keyed four more cars in the service area that belonged to customers. The estimated damage is at least $4,000.

Sept. 11 – A 42-year-old man reported that sometime over the last month, someone had entered his garage in the 2800 block of Georgia Avenue South and stolen two bikes. The man said the garage door was occasionally left open. The bikes are worth a combined $2,100. No suspects have been identified.

Sept. 12 – An administrator at reported that someone had stuffed a stick and a wooden pipe into an exterior drainage pipe, causing sewage to back up in the building’s bathrooms. The damage and clean up was estimated at $600. No suspects have been identified.

Sept. 12 – A 42 year-old man reported that his work truck was stolen. The man, who works for Green Horizons landscaping based in St. Louis Park, said the truck, along with an attached trailer, was stolen from a lot in the 8000 block of Powell Road. The man said he had all the keys to the vehicle. Two days later, the truck was found in a Brooklyn Park parking lot and returned. No suspects have been identified.

Sept. 13 – Police broke up an altercation between a 25-year-old man and a juvenile male outside the apartments. The older male said the juvenile started verbally harassing him and a woman he was with while they were walking by. That led to the two confronting each other, though no punches were thrown. The young male confirmed this story. The 25-year-old was sent home with a warning, while the juvenile was sent to his grandmother’s apartment.

Sept. 14 – Police were called to the intersection of Excelsior Boulevard and Quentin Avenue to break up a reported road rage incident. A 65-year-old man said another man, 39, cut him off. The older man said he then “flicked” off the other driver. The two then pulled into the lot and they started yelling at each other. The younger man reportedly grabbed a bat from his car, which he said was to protect himself. Police separated the two men, who did not want to press charges. They were both sent home.
