Blotter: Police Respond to Garage Burglaries

Also, a car was reported stolen from Westside Volkswagen.

Editor's Note: The following incidents occurred between March 24 and 29, and were included in the most recent weekly report, sent out on April 4. Specific details come from individual incident reports maintained by the department.

March 24 - Police were called to a home in the 2600 block of Zarthan Avenue after a woman, 59, said someone entered her unlocked garage and stole several tools. A car was also rummaged through, though nothing was taken from the vehicle. No suspects have been identified.

March 28 - An employee at reported that a 2003 silver Dodge Dakota had been stolen from a ramp at the dealership. The employee said a set of keys was missing from an unlocked cabinet inside the store. Surveillance video will be sent to police. No suspects have been identified.

March 28 - A 65-year-old man reported that a Special Forces Flag, valued at $600, as well as several other items were stolen from his vehicle, which was parked in his garage in the 5900 block of West 39th Street. The man said his garage and car were unlocked. Also stolen were two knives valued at $1,400, as well as a GPS system. No suspects have been identified.

March 29 - Police responded to a home in the 4300 block of 25th Street on a report of a garage burglary. A woman, 61, said an unknown suspect entered the unlocked garage, then stole her purse from her unlocked vehicle. The purse contained several credit cards and gift cards, as well as $400 cash. A neighbor later recovered her wallet, but the cash and cards were missing.
