Blotter: Police Respond to Fight, Break-ins

A man also recently reported being threatened by someone with a knife after an altercation in the road.

The following incidents occurred between March 19 and March 21, and were included in the St. Louis Park Police Department's most recent weekly report, sent out on March 30. Specific details come from individual incident reports maintained by the department.

March 19- Police were dispatched to the after a fight broke out. A 35-year-old man said another man started a verbal altercation with a group of friends. When the 35-year-old tried to intervene, he said the other man slapped him. The group then wrestled the culprit to the floor. When that man said he’d file assault charges if they didn’t get off him, the group moved away. The man then left the bar. Police were unable to locate the suspect, but the 35-year-old said he didn’t want to press charges anyway.

March 19- A 25-year-old woman said her apartment in the 3600 block of Phillips Parkway was burglarized the night before. The woman said she had been out that night and then went straight to bed when she got home. In the morning, she discovered a laptop, cash and a Target gift card were missing. There were no signs of forced entry, though the woman said she thought she had locked her door. The value of the missing property is around $600. No suspects have been identified.

March 19- Police responded to on a burglary report. The company’s owner, 49-year-old Paul Anderberg, said two tower computers and three desktop computers were taken. The total value of the items is roughly $8,000. There is construction going on in the area, and police found an unsecured back door that may have been the point of entry. No suspects have been identified.

March 19- A 24-year-old man told police that another man threatened him with a knife after the two got into an argument in the road. The altercation occurred after an unknown motorist got mad at the 24-year-old, who was biking in front of him. The driver pulled over near Dakota Avenue and Lake Street and started yelling at the 24-year-old. The driver then pulled a knife and made a few threats before driving away. The 24-year-old described the suspect as a tall, thin, white male between the age of 35 and 45, wearing a blue or gray coat. The 24-year-old also said the man was driving a silver Pontiac.

March 21- Police were dispatched to the Yes Mart building in the 8000 block of Minnetonka Boulevard on a report of someone breaking in. Officers found signs of forced entry but nothing was reported missing. The building was and is currently boarded up.
