Blotter: Police Deal with Apartment Theft Attempts

One suspect unsuccessfully tried to steal a TV, while another suspect made off with four car tires.

Editor's Note: The following incidents occurred between Dec. 23 and Dec. 29, and were included in the most recent weekly report, sent out on Jan. 4. Specific details come from individual incident reports maintained by the department.

Dec. 23 – Police responded to the apartments after a staff member heard a burglar alarm sound. The staff member went to an apartment clubroom and found a TV loose from its mounting and hanging from the wall, a sign of an apparent theft attempt. No suspects have been identified.

Dec. 24 – Police responded to an apartment complex in the 3600 block of Phillips Parkway after a 37-year-old woman said all four tires and rims were stolen from her vehicle. The car was left sitting on blocks in the parking lot. The tires and rims are valued at $1,400. No suspects have been identified.

Dec. 24 – An early morning commotion sent officers to . A 25-year-old male had been cuffed by security after causing trouble inside the bar, then causing trouble outside after being escorted. No assault occurred, according to security guards, and the man was sent home with his sober friends.

Dec. 28 – Police were called to after a laptop and several other items were stolen from a parked car. An unknown suspect smashed the left, rear window and stole about $2,150 worth of possessions. The damage to the car was estimated at another $300.

Dec. 29 – Officers responded to a home in the 3500 block of Glenhurst Avenue after two men said a guest stole from them. The men, ages 25 and 26, said they had been at an Uptown bar the night before and met someone who called himself “Chris” or “Milwaukee.” The men invited “Chris” over to crash. In the morning, they realized an Xbox gaming system and a laptop were missing. One man also said that “Chris” stole his wallet. The men described “Chris” as a black man in his 30s, standing about 5-feet, 10-inches tall, with a thick build. No additional information was provided.
