Blotter: Man Threatened at Knife-Point

Also, graffiti damage was reported at the Minneapolis Golf Club.

Editor's Note: The following incidents occurred between Aug. 25 and Aug. 30, and were included in the most recent weekly report, sent out on Sept. 7. Specific details come from individual incident reports maintained by the department.

Aug. 25 – A 24-year-old man reported to police that two men tried to rob him at knife-point outside of a St. Louis Park gas station.

The man said he was walking to the Mobil at 3901 Excelsior Blvd. when the two men came up to him and demanded his wallet. When the 24-year-old refused, one of the two suspects threatened to stab him. The 24-year-old then reached to grab the man’s knife and got cut when the man pulled away. The victim yelled at a car driving by for help, at which point the two suspects ran.

The 24-year-old man described one suspect as a 6-foot tall, 175-pound black male who was about 30 years old. He said the man was wearing khaki shorts, a black leather jacket and a black hat with a red “C” on it. He said the man also had a goatee with braids on each side.

The second suspect was described as a Hispanic male, standing about 5 feet, 6 inches, and weighing 135 pounds. The victim said he was in his early 20s, and was wearing a black shirt, black jeans and white shoes. He was also said to have dark hair and a mustache.

Aug. 26 – Staff at Village in the Park Apartments, 3700 Wooddale Ave., reported that someone had destroyed 30 sprinkler heads. Most of the destroyed sprinkler heads were adjacent to Oxford Street along the boulevard. Staff said the damage likely occurred between Aug. 16 and Aug. 25, between 9 p.m. and midnight, when the sprinkler heads are up and running. The damage was reported at $1,000 and no suspects have been identified.

Aug. 26 – A 27-year-old man reported that his car, parked in a lot in the 300 block of Shelard Parkway, had been broken into and several items stolen. This included a laptop computer, as well as the case, which was holding $800 cash and some prescription medications. An unknown suspect accessed the items by smashing through the driver’s side, front window.

Aug. 30 – Staff at the reported that someone had spray painted graffiti on two greens. The damage to the grass was estimated at $1,000. No suspects have been identified.
