Blotter: Man Stuck-up at Local Restaurant

The unidentified thief made out with $300 and a cell phone.

No suspects have been identified in a reported armed robbery of a window washer at a St. Louis Park restaurant.

The incident in question occurred on July 25 at . A 39-year-old man who was washing the restaurant’s windows after hours said a man came up behind him, stuck a gun in his back, and demanded money.

The suspect allegedly forced the man inside and made him get down on the floor. The window washer gave the suspect his wallet—which contained $300—and his cell phone. The suspect then fled, but the window washer said he was scared and didn’t get up for about five minutes, so he didn’t see where the suspect went.

The window washer also didn’t get a good look at the suspect and couldn’t make out his race, age or size. He did say the suspect was wearing a red and white horizontally striped shirt, baggy jeans and had something covering his face.

Police recovered the alleged victim’s wallet near the scene, but weren’t able to dust for fingerprints because the wallet was too ragged and worn. K-9s also were unable to track the suspect.

Surveillance cameras installed at the adjoining did not catch the incident.

July 21 – Police were dispatched to Kacey Enterprises, 7600 West 27th St., on a report of a computer theft. An employee told police that he found his office locked, but the business does share a common area with several other offices. No signs of forced entry were found at the building. No suspects have been identified. The computer is valued at $1,500.

July 21 – Roughly $3,000 worth of brass pipe fittings were reported stolen from a construction site at the intersection of Franklin Avenue and Oregon Avenue. No suspects have been identified.

July 21 – The pastor at reported an attempted burglary. The pastor said there were pry marks on his office door, though nothing was stolen from or disturbed in his office. He said it was the second similar incident in the last year. There were no signs of forced entry, and no suspects have been identified. The damage to the door was reported at $250.

July 21 – A $1,000 laptop computer, along with a case, was reported stolen from a car in the lot at . The car’s front, passenger-side window was smashed out. No suspects have been identified.

July 21 – An area man was charged with felony assault after he reportedly hit another man with a baseball bat during a fight. Police arrested Steven Dean Buerman, 18, in the backyard of a nearby home. He was reportedly dazed, swearing profusely and wearing no shoes at the time of his arrest. A video shot by a witness shows a fight breaking out between two other men and then shows Buerman swinging the bat at one of the two men. Buerman said he was trying to break up the fight. He is currently in Hennepin County custody on $150,000 bail and scheduled for a court appearance on Wednesday.

July 22 – An 83-year-old woman was reportedly attacked by a dog, leading to an area man getting a Potentially Dangerous Dog notice. The woman said she was walking to her mailbox at the corner of 33rd Street and Library Lane when the dog came running from a yard and bit her on the right wrist, leaving puncture wounds. The woman said she was walking pretty close to the yard and believed the dog was on a leash. The owner, 58-year-old Robin William Locky, said his son’s friend put the dog on a leash but that it probably got territorial when it saw the woman so close.

July 23 – An employee at reported that his sunglasses and his iPhone were stolen from a cabinet in the hospital’s emergency room. The total value of the stolen items is a reported $1,150. No suspects have been identified.

July 27 Police responded to the on a report of a theft from the snack shack. An unknown suspect or suspects pushed in a window-mounted air conditioner unit, then crawled into the locked shack. The suspect or suspects took roughly $400 worth of beer, liquor, soda and snacks.

July 29 – A 22-year-old culinary arts student reported that a $10,000 knife set she used for school was stolen from her car while it was parked at the . The vehicles rear, driver’s-side window was smashed out. No suspects have been identified.
