Blotter: Home Trashed, Shoplifters Nab Big Load

St. Louis Park police also dealt with several residential burglaries in recent weeks.

Editor's Note: The following incidents occurred between April 20 and April 26, and were included in the  most recent weekly report, sent out on May 2. Specific details come from individual incident reports maintained by the department.

April 20 - A burglary was reported at a residence in the 5700 block of Highway 7. A 32-year-old male tenant said a sliding glass door had been smashed in. Stolen were a box of jewelry, as well as his designer watch. No suspects have been identified.

April 21 - A 20 year-old woman reported that someone broke into her residence in the 6900 block of Meadowbrook Boulevard, then cut up furniture and mattress. Her daughter's clothing had also been taken out from drawers and scattered about, and frozen food was removed from the freezer and left out to spoil. In all, there was about $3,000 in damage, though nothing was reported stolen. A broken in front door appeared to be the point of entry. No suspects have been identified.

April 21- A 40-year-old man said he was robbed outside of . He told police he was leaving the store with a case of beer when three males approached him, began to hit him, and ran off with the beer. The victim said he couldn't better identify the suspects.

April 22 - A burglary was reported at the restaurant. Roughly $900 in cash was taken from the register, and a lock box with $500 more was also missing, along with several business documents. The owner said all the store's doors were locked and secured when he checked. He added that only he and his business partner had keys, and they were accounted for. No suspects have been identified.

April 23 - Police responded to the parking lot after a 27-year-old man reported that his car had been broken into. Stolen were his laptop and a $1,200 electric guitar. There are no surveillance cameras in the area, and no suspects have been identified.

April 24 - A 70-year-old man reported that his residence in the 1500 block of Zarthan Avenue South was burglarized. Police found that the front door had been forced open. Stolen was the man's laptop. No suspects have been identified.

April 25 - An employee at Family Dollar, located at 7105 Cedar Lake Rd. S., reported that two men and two women shoplifted roughly $1,000 in merchandise. The employee said the group filled three shopping carts, then left the store and took off with the merchandise in a red Ford Expedition. The employee could not provide a detailed description of the suspects. No arrests have been made.

April 26 -  A 35-year-old man reported that cleaning equipment was stolen from his vehicle in the 2200 block of Florida Ave South. The man said a power broom and a propane tank, valued at around $600 total, were stolen. No suspects have been identified.
