Letter: Hope We Vote Down Marriage Amendment

Constitutions should be about protecting rights, rather than limiting them.

Editor's Note: The following was submitted as a letter to the editor. If you would like to submit a letter about the marriage amendment—or a different topic of interest—please email michael.rose@patch.com. Submission does not guarantee publication.

I am a St. Louis Park resident who feels very strongly about the marriage amendment we will all be voting on in November. Constitutions should be about protecting rights, rather than limiting them. It is my hope that the wise people of Minnesota will make us the first state to vote down such an exclusionary amendment.

I have donated. I have my lawn sign displayed, but I'd like to do more! I just created a fundraising page with Minnesotans United for All Families - the campaign working hard to defeat the constitutional amendment that would permanently exclude committed same-sex couples from ever having the freedom to marry in Minnesota.

I've set a goal to raise money for Minnesotans United, and I would love your help to reach it! Click on the link below to go to my page and make a donation. You can also make your own fundraising page!
