Excuse me Ms. Dorfman

Henn Co. Commissioner Gale Dorfman recently expressed her frustration regarding recent local resistance to the freight rail reroute through SLP. Apparently she'd thought is was all settled. Well, I thought it was settled as well... until I actually saw the plan.

I grew up SLP, we used to have 5 times as many active rail lines criss-crossing the city. As far as I know only one person was accidentally killed by a train in SLP in 60 years. I grew up playing around these tracks, and my High School classmates and myself routinely had to wait for trains while leaving our open campus on our way to lunch at McDonalds. I was not worried about the children, or the safety of students, or the noise. My understanding from several town meetings was that the trail traffic on EXISTING lines was going to increase, and that those lines needed some upgrading.

Then out of nowhere a plan for a two story high berm running through the middle of SLP while being rammed through the new $2 million football field materialized. THIS is NOT what we agreed to, this was not settled, this is a bait and switch.

I'm sorry Ms. Dorfman but just because you folks spent a lot of time in meetings doesn't mean we have to accept the ridiculous plan you came up with.
