Obituary: Blaine Bartz of St. Louis Park

Service is Friday, April 26, 2013 at Lakewood Cemetery Chapel in Minneapolis.

Blaine Bartz of St. Louis Park 

Dec. 3, 1945 - April 21, 2013 

Survived by wife, Vicki Strahan; daughters Andi Bartz of Middletown, Ohio and Sarah Bartz of Rockland, Maine; son, Garrett Bartz of Minneapolis; grandsons, Derek Wright and Bennett Bartz; and many life-long friends.

He was born in Rugby, North Dakota and attended grade school and high school in Bismarck, North Dakota. He graduated from the University of North Dakota with a degree in mechanical engineering. Blaine held a variety of engineering positions at Control Data Corporation and retired from Cargill as manager of facilities and office services. During his time at Cargill, Blaine especially enjoyed his involvement on the restoration of the executive office center in Minnetonka and working with the Cargill art collection. Blaine also served as President of the local IFMA Chapter for several years and was an active member for more than 10 years. Blaine was a lifelong car enthusiast and enjoyed a driving trip on Route 66 soon after his retirement.

Preceded in death by his parents, Bernyce and Wilbert Bartz; and brother, Gary Bartz.

The family would like to especially thank his personal caregivers for the outstanding care and dedication they showed to Blaine over the past 9 months. Also, the Park Nicollet Home Care Hospice team did an exceptional job and made it possible for Blaine to be cared for at home until his death.
