Oriole Athletes Excel

Park Soccer, Football and Tri-athlete recognized

Luke Von Eschen, Davon Malone, DJ Pollard, Kashif Hayes, Kaitlyn Palmatier and Daren Martin starred for St. Louis Park recently in athletics. Von Eschen plays for the Oriole boys soccer team and he tallied two goals as the boys soccer team defeated Fridley 3-1. The Orioles are currently near the top in the north suburban conference and ranked in the top 10 in class AA in the state. Long time head coach Chato Alvarado is ready to coach his team into the playoffs and section success. The Park kickers have a history of success and were the state class AA runners-up in 2008. ----------------------------------------------- Davon Malone rushed for 183 yards and DJ Pollard corralled two balls for 53 yards including two touchdowns in the Orioles 42 - 35 loss to North Branch on September 28. Malone also stormed for for 150 yards on 22 carries in a recent loss. Kashif Hayes, a senior running back for the Orioles galloped 78 yards for a touchdown against you Sagal lakes in the 46-26 loss. Hayes and Pollard will be starters thus winter for the Orioles basketball team who returns all five starters from last season. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Palmatier finished 22nd overall in the Iowa invitational triathlon meet on September 16. Palmatier's time three hours was a personal best. The triathlon consisted of competition in swimming, biking and running . She competed in the 19 and under division. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin, a sophomore defensive tackle for the Orioles was credited with 10 tackles in the Orioles 47 to 14 loss to #4 ranked Spring Lake Park on September 14.
