What does Gregg see as priorities for St. Louis Park?

In the coming year, I see the following issues taking priority as we look to maintain a high quality of life here in the Park.  First and foremost, I believe Ward 3 needs the type of representative that will proactively listen and quickly respond to what you see as priorities for the Council and City Staff to undertake.  That said, here are some of the most important issues as I see it…

Stopping the freight rail reroute. I have been clear about my views of the freight rail reroute through St Louis Park – it is a dangerous, divisive, costly, and ugly plan that will jeopardize the vibrant community and quality of life we enjoy in St Louis Park.  Based on the facts, St Louis Park should prevail in stopping the freight reroute.  The problem is, sometimes politics get in the way of common sense.  I will work hard to represent your interests by speaking on behalf of what is best for the vitality of St Louis Park – engaging with, but never putting politics in front of what matters most to the successful future of our community.  Specifically, I will advocate for what I see as the only acceptable outcome – a conclusion to the freight rail issue that does not allow for reroute being considered as a viable alternative for our community.

Right-sized redevelopment.  In spite of the economic downturn, St Louis Park has continued to be a desirable and practical community for developers to focus resources.  This will continue as light rail and other factors increase demand in the Park.  Right-sized redevelopment is important to the continued vibrancy of St Louis Park.  I believe this development needs to be done in the right place, with the right neighborhood values reflected, at the right time.  I am committed to this right-sized development in Ward 3.  As a matter of fact, I look forward to advocating for processes to build community vision and establish desired neighborhood input for critical redevelopment areas in our Ward.  By establishing guidelines now, we all will be able to enjoy the benefits of right-sized development when local business owners and developers seek to complete private projects in St Louis Park.

Aging infrastructure.  As a seasoned first ring suburb, our infrastructure is aging.  Luckily, we have a great group of professional City staff who understand what needs to be done to ensure our water runs, our toilets flush and are streets are passable.  I am committed to supporting staff in this, and every other area, to ensure that they have the needed support and resources to make sure that our expectations as residents are met.

Remember to vote Gregg Lindberg for City Council on November 5th.  Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8 p.m.  Want to know more?  Visit www.GreggLindberg.com, or give me a call at 952-920-0650.
