We are all faced with difficult budget decisions these days. Just as we do at home, careful choices with financial resources is critical. Financially sound decision making means protecting a strong financial position for the City. It also means ensuring a reasonable level of property tax for homeowners and business owners alike.
My family lost my Dad a few years ago. My Mom still lives in the Browndale Neighborhood – the house I grew up in. Property tax bills are a big deal – for both her as well as my Wife and I. I want to make sure that she, and others, bears a reasonable tax burden to keep the fabric of our community together. This means we have to make Making decisions with our resources now to provide us with the best possible City services for years to come. Broadening our tax base, ensuring efficiencies in budget administration, and being smart with our resources will ensure this sustainability.
