Shipwrecked! An Entertainment: The Amazing Adventures of Louis de Rougemont (as told by himself)

SHIPWRECKED! by

Donald Margulies depicts one man's dubious rise to fame as a master

storyteller. Louis de Rougemont regaled Victorian England with his astounding

tales of high sea adventure. Riding giant sea turtles. Escaping a man-eating

octopus. Traversing the wilds of the Australian outback. Rougemont's stories,

serialized and sensationalized in a British magazine, blur the lines between

authenticity and illusion, realism and the ridiculous. Our production will

depict this through music, make-believe, puppetry, and an ensemble of actors

who recreate Rougemont's wonderful world.

All performances will be held in the high school

auditorium, located along the West 33rd St. entrance. General admission tickets

will be available at the door 30 minutes prior to the show: $7 for adults, $5

for students and seniors.
