Quadophony concert: Metamorphosis

Quadophony proudly presents its third concert, Metamorphosis, at 6 p.m. Sunday, April 27, at St. George's Episcopal Church, 5224 Minnetonka Boulevard, St. Louis Park. Inspired by the works of minimalist composer Philip Glass, this concert will feature prominent works of the American minimalism movement.

Transcribed for four voices, Quadophony will premier vocal arrangements of Terry Riley's In C, Philip Glass' Metamorphosis as well as John Cage's infamous 4'33''. The group will also give the world premier performance of Stephen Houtz' "A Single Regret" and Mark Bauer's "The Earth-Child In The Grass".

Quadophony, a vocal quartet dedicated to performing a cappella vocal music of the 20th and 21st centuries, is directed by founder Mark Bauer. Quadophony performs established vocal pieces, new works, lesser known works and works using extended vocal techniques. It is composed of soprano Gretchen Baglyos Reed, mezzo-soprano Tracey Zavadil, baritone Mark Bauer, and bass Stephen Houtz.

The concert is free (donations greatly appreciated), and there will be a reception afterwards.
