'Oklahoma!' was Richard Rodger's and Oscar Hammerstein's first collaboration and, in many ways, their most innovative having set the standard for musical theatre storytelling with the integration of music, design, dance and story. Choreographer and dancer, Agnes de Mille, melded dance with storytelling and emotion in a way audiences had never seen before.

Based on Lynn Rigg's play, Green Grow the Lillies, the Broadway production ran for 2,243 performances, finally closing on May 29, 1948.  It has been revived many times on Broadway and in the West End of London.

Roger's assessed a musical's success like this: "When a show works perfectly, it's because all the individual parts complement each other and fit together..." Just as Rodgers' said, the Theatre of the Spirit cast and crew members come together as individuals to tell the story of our growing nation along with the hopes and dreams of our early American settlers.  Come, enjoy!
