What's Your Favorite April Fools' Gag?

This Sunday is the annual day of pranks and practical jokes.

Ah, April Fools' Day. One of the truly underappreciated days on the calendar.

This Sunday is the annual holiday for pranksters and practical jokers, a time when messing with a friend or loved one isn't just OK, it's encouraged (at least by me).

I'm a big fan of gag humor and find it to be an underused form of fun. Maybe too many people are just too uptight these days, but a good prank should show all of us that life really is short—and short on laughs. So when the salt is in the pepper shaker and vice versa, it's worth a chuckle, not a conniption.

Speaking of mixing up the salt and pepper, that is definitely one the best—and easiest—gags you can execute this year. My favorite, however, is putting clear tape on the handle of the sink-side hose (assuming your sink has a sink-side hose). With the tape properly in place, and the hose pointing straight ahead, the first person to turn on the faucet expecting to fill something up will instead get a blast of water in the gut. It's a great gag—just make sure not to forget your handiwork, as yours truly did one year. Because hoses will spray anyone. They're not very discriminatory.

But enough about my favorite gag—what's yours? In the comments section below, share your favorite prank with other Patch readers. Just please keep it in good fun, and family friendly.
