What's Open and Closed on MLK Day 2013?

Here's a comprehensive list of what businesses and services will and will not be available Monday.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is Monday. It marks the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

He was born on Jan. 15, 1929, but his birthday is celebrated on the a Monday so workers will get a three-day holiday.

The day also has been designated as a Day of Service. There are many opportunities to serve in the Twin Cities.

Burlington Coat Factory in St. Louis Park is accepting coat donations through MLK Day.

Banks: Most banks are closed on Monday, but you should check with your particular branch.

Businesses: Some businesses could choose to close Monday. Please call ahead before heading out to shop. 

City offices: The city offices will be closed Monday.

Fire: Firefighters will be working Monday.

Garbage: Garbage collection will remain the same during the week of Martin Luther King Jr.

Library: The St. Louis Park Library will be closed Monday. 

Mall: Knollwood Mall will be open Monday.

Police: Police officers will be on duty Monday.

Senior Center: The St. Louis Park Senior Program in Lenox Community Center will be closed Monday.

Transportation: Metro Transit will be running on a normal schedule Monday.
