Upgrades Underway on I-394, Highway 7 in St. Louis Park

Construction is expected to last until October.

Construction began today on local  segments of Interstate 394 and Highway 7. Hennepin County is now upgrading traffic control signals and traffic management systems in the following locations:

  • Interstate 394 between Park Place Boulevard/Xenia Avenue in St. Louis Park and Central Avenue/County Road 101 in Wayzata.
  • Highway 7 between Ottawa Avenue South in St. Louis Park and Hazeltine Boulevard/Highway 41 in Chaska.

The purpose of the project is to ease traffic flow with enhanced traffic signal communications. New cameras and electronic message signs will also be installed.

From now through project completion, which is expected by Oct. 1, crews will work from 7 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. While no lane closures are expected, shoulder closures will occur throughout the project.
