UPDATED: Large Hail Hits Metro

A funnel cloud was spotted nearby in Hopkins.

UPDATE (8:52pm): The tornado warning issued earlier for Hennepin County has been pulled back. A less-severe tornado watch remains in effect until midnight.

Large hail was reported throughout the west metro, and near Highway 169 and Excelsior Boulevard in Hopkins, but no severe damage has been reported in St. Louis Park.

A tornado warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for north central Hennepin County. The warning will be in effect until 8:30 p.m.

The NWS reports that a potentially tornadic storm was spotted at around 8:05 p.m. near St. Michael, Minn. Trained spotters have reported seeing funnel clouds with this storm.

A number of residents have also reported that large hail has come down in the west metro area, including "marble-sized" hail in St. Louis Park according to one resident.
